By Kumar Gaurav, ETMarkets.com Oct 06, 2026, 05:28:00 PM IST Follow us Indian equities extended their rebound for a second consecutive session on Tuesday, with benchmark indices closing higher as a further decline in crude oil prices eased some of the macroeconomic pressure weighing on market sentiment.ADVERTISEMENT The Nifty 50 ended at 22,714.80, up 195.05 points, or 0.71%, while the Sensex gained 685.34 points, or 0.95%, to settle at 73,067.81.Broader markets also staged a solid recovery, with the Nifty Smallcap 100 rising 1.56% and the Nifty Midcap 100 gaining 1.08%.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty FMCG, Pharma, Private Bank, Healthcare, Oil & Gas, and Chemicals indices ended with gains of more than 1% each.

Market breadth also turned positive, with 2,455 stocks advancing on the NSE against 1,125 declines, while 115 stocks remained unchanged.ALSO READ: NSE shares wipe off Rs 41,000 crore after listing day pop as stock slips below IPO price.

The index held firmly above the 22,600 zone, with minor declines attracting buying interest and helping it sustain levels above 22,700.

On the upside, a sustained move above 22,800 could open the way toward the 23,000 mark, according to Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money."On the downside, immediate support is placed around 22,600, followed by 22,500.
