Harmanpreet Singh scores

India vs China Hockey Highlights Asian Champions Trophy: India produced a strong display to beat China 5-2 in their second league-stage match of the Asian Champions Trophy 2026 in Jalandhar. Sukhjeet Singh opened the scoring with a fine finish after receiving Jugraj Singh’s aerial pass. China equalised through Yang Peng’s penalty-corner conversion, but captain Harmanpreet Singh restored India’s lead moments later. Harmanpreet struck again in the second half before Sukhjeet completed his brace to make it 4-1. China captain Chen Chongcong pulled one back from a penalty corner, but Jugraj sealed the 5-2 victory, helping the defending champions move to the top of the table.

INDIA WIN!!!

And that's it. A quiet final quarter especially after an engaging third one. India win 5-2 thanks to a brace each from Harmanpreet and Sukhjeet and a lone goal from Jugraj. India move top of the table with this second win in as many matches

Harmanpreet misses hat-trick chance

India have already gone 5-2 ahead and are heading for their second consecutive win. Late in the second half they won a penalty corner, and Harmanpreet had a chance to add to his goal tally and score a hat-truick. However, the Chinese goalkeeper saved the ball, as the Indian captain was denied his third goal.

India slow down intensity!!

India are now pressing the midfield and keeping the ball there, Hence, the intensity of the game has slowed down, and the men in saffron are not even letting China put on any attack towards their goal.

India make it 5!!

Jugraj Singh makes it 5-2. In the absence of Harmanpreet, India's second drag-flicker scores his first through a grounded flick as India extend the gap in the final quarter

End of third quarter

It was an exciting third quarter as three goals came in it, two from India and one from China. Now with just 15 minutes to go India have a healthy 2-goal cushion with a 4-2 lead. However, as a team which has medalled at the last two Olympic Games, giving two goals away against China is not acceptable.

China pull one back!!

China now score, and the goal comes once again from a penalty corner. They tried a variation this time, with captain Chen Chongcong's drag flick flying past Suraj Karkera. India still lead 4-2.

Another goal for Sukhjeet!!

Sukhjeet scores his second goal of the night. Lovely aerial ball from the skipper from half line to Sanjay at baseline . Sanjay passed it to Sukhjeet standing in front of the goal as the striker hammers in their fourth

Harmanpreet Singh scores again

India put in more distance between themselves and China as local boy Harmanpreet scores his second to the delight of the crowd to put the hosts 3-1 ahead. China cannot afford to give away such easy penalty corners to India, especially with a drag-flicket like Harmanpreet in their ranks

Close contest so far!!

It has been a pretty close contest between India and China. In fact, even though India lead, China have had the more shots on target.

India lead after first half

The first half draws to a close as it has been a pretty close match, with both India and China making quite a number of chances. However, the goals from Sukhjeet Singh and Harmanpreet Singh have made the difference as India lead 2-1. Will India increase their lead or will China come back into the game in the second half?

Harmanpreet Singh the man!!

The euphoria of equalizing does not last long for China. Harmanpreet Singh got the chance at goal from a third penalty corner of the day. He missed the first two chances, but showed why he is still the best drag flicker in the world, as he converts the penalty corner, just a minute after China score. India now lead 2-1.

China equalize

Clinical from China as they earn a penalty corner. Can they level the scores or will Krishan Bahadur Pathak save it for India? He can't as China level the score at 1-1! Yang Peng converts through the penalty corner.

Two penalty corners missed!!

Harmanpreet Kaur is generally the best in the world in taking penalty corners with an outstanding conversion rate, courtesy his famous drag flicks. India had two chances to double their lead courtesy two consecutive penalty corners, but in uncharacteristic fashion, the Indian captain managed to miss both chances.

China looking to score

In the first few minutes of the second quarter, China have looked the more attacking of the two sides. They have made constant circle entries, but the Indian defence have looked strong. In fact, China even had a penalty corner which they failed to convert.

End of first quarter

The first quarter of the India vs China match has come to a conclusion, and it is Sukhjeet Singh's goal that is making the difference for the men in saffron. India have a slender lead of 1-0 as they take the field in the second quarter.

GOAL for India!!

3D skills and Sukhjeet Singh gives India the opening goal! Scoop from Jugraj Singh from the half line, straight to the Indian striker who displayed fantastic 3D skills to put the ball past advancing goalkeeper Wu Huanyu to put India 1-0 ahead

China's defending well

China;s low blog has been pretty decent so far. India have benn good on the attack making multiple circle entries, but the Chinese defence has denied them multiple chances. Mandeep and Sukhjeet have had the best chances at goal, but none of them failed to convert. Can China hold on to this, or will India finally manage to break through?

Match Begins!!

India and China have begun their contest in their second league match of the Asian Champions Trophy 2026. Will the Indian side continue their goal fest, or can the Chinese side hold the Indian juggernaut?
