While it is unfair to expect positive changes within four months of a new regime assuming office, the government should also pay heed to the common person’s concerns and not depend solely on bureaucrats to decide on public policies, said CPI state secretary M.Veerapandian in Hosur on Thursday. He was speaking to the media on the sidelines of a party executive meeting here.
The CPI leader underlined that the Left’s support to the TVK was not for a government but for democracy and that the party would always ally with the common people. There were scores of constituencies including sanitation workers, road workers, nurses, government doctors and teacher, rural road network workers, whose demands and needs were not met but were part of the poll promises. It was incumbent upon the government to honour those promises, the CPI leader said.
On the controversy over use of HIndi on medicine covers in government hospitals, the CPI leader said, while the party was open to respecting all languages, it fiercely opposed the Union government’s move to impose Hindi in any form [The medicine covers were procured by the erstwhile DMK regime, according to State Health Minister Arunraj].
